While our minimum length of stay is six months, many residents stay much longer, with the average length being 12-30 years. Lakewood provides an indefinite length of stay, focusing on long-term stability and community integration.
3. What is the Supported Community Living program?
Our Supported Community Living program allows residents to live and work in the community while staying connected to Lakewood Center for support as needed. This program fosters independence, with a focus on community integration, but does not include 24-hour supervision.
4. Do residents have access to medical care?
Yes, our on-site health center provides medical exam spaces, medication management, and therapy offices for physician consults and individual therapy. We partner with community based providers for each individual’s ongoing medical needs.
5. What amenities are available on the Lakewood campus?
Our campus includes single-occupancy apartments, Café Lakewood with chef-prepared meals, a Zen Lounge, music and art therapy studios, an activity center, a year-round heated swimming pool, and our signature Elm Lounge coffee shop, which hosts open mic events and more.
6. Can family members be involved in the care process?
Yes, family involvement is encouraged at Lakewood Center. We believe that a strong support system helps foster better outcomes for our residents, and families are welcome to be part of the care planning and support process.
